Remap the hardware volume buttons! They have a wide range of functions beyond just controlling the volume.
For instance, you can assign volume Up to turn on the flashlight, a long press of Up to skip music tracks, and a sequence of Up-Up to start recording sound. You have full control over the commands and actions. When an action is executed, any changes in volume are reset, minimizing the risk of confusion between commands and volume adjustments.
No need to rely on the touch screen or go through the hassle of unlocking the device, removing gloves, or taking it out of your pocket!
Here are some of the tasks you can perform using the volume keys:

 <li>Turn the flashlight on and off</li>
 <li>Control music playback (play/pause/skip/previous track)</li>
 <li>Have the currently playing music announced by a computer voice</li>
 <li>Switch between different keyboards</li>
 <li>Change the system language</li>
 <li>Rotate the screen orientation</li>
 <li>Toggle screen auto-rotation</li>
 <li>Enable or disable Bluetooth</li>
 <li>Set the sound mode (sound/vibrate/mute)</li>
 <li>Turn on or off Do Not Disturb mode</li>
 <li>Have the time announced by a computer voice</li>
 <li>Record sound</li>
 <li>Execute a Tasker task (which can accomplish various tasks)</li>
 <li>And of course, adjust the volume</li>
</ul>
